Accelerando by Charles Stross

Accelerando by Charles Stross

A well-written space saga in which nanotechnology that has been specially engineered for humans doesn’t quite work out as planned. Stross puts a larger-than-life cast of characters in ever-increasing peril from social chaos brought about by, among other things, anti-aging treatments on Earth. Three generations of a family thus fight in very different ways to survive, and reviewers have differed rather sharply on this book’s ultimate style and message. It has been called both “brilliant” and “inchoate.”

About Charles Stross

Stross was born in Leeds, England in 1964. His career has been varied, working at times as a technical writer, freelance writer, software engineer and, of all things, a pharmacist. His standing as a future fiction writer has, however, been secured with the publication of Accelerando, and he is among the younger authors to watch in years to come.
